Norco is located in the Inland Empire region of California in Riverside County. The name Norco is an abbreviation for “North Corona” since the city is indeed located north of Corona, which offers numerous amenities and attractions. Norco is known as a horse community and is one of the few cities in California where horse trails outnumber sidewalks and horse riding is considered an alternate mode of transportation. The city has over 95 mi (153 km) of horse trails and 400 acres (162 ha) of parkland. Many establishments offer hitching posts near their front door. Being an animal loving community, Norco is home to the Norco Animal Rescue Team (NART). The community also hosts many special events throughout the year such as rodeos. One of the more popular annual events is the Norco Valley Fair featuring a rodeo, exhibitions, pageants and many other family-friendly activities. The George Ingalls Equestrian Event Center hosts many large horse shows throughout the year, as well as rodeos and other special events.
