Welcome to Rancho Cucamonga, CA!
Located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains between Los Angeles and San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga—named by local Native Americans—has more to its narrative then a funny place name and the residential community it has become. For over a century, Rancho Cucamonga saw its fair share of visitors, including movie stars and notables, as they passed through on the legendary Route 66 and stopped at the historic Sycamore Inn or partook of the harvests of nearby vineyards. The Thomas Winery is a designated state landmark as California’s oldest commercial winery and today a wine tasting room stands in the original winery building, while the nearby Joesph Filippi Winery, after five generations, continues to offer fine wines and tours.History and grapes aside, Rancho Cucamonga still boasts plenty to see and do. Lacking a traditional downtown, city planners developed the purpose-built Victoria Gardens Regional Town Center—an upscale shopping neighborhood complete with city blocks of shops, pedestrian lanes, a town square and the Lewis Family Playhouse. The Pacific Electric Trail and the North Etiwanda Preserve offer over 150 mi (240 km) of hiking, biking and equestrian trails, and the Frontier Project is a state-of-the-art green building—open to the public as a demonstration facility on sustainable development. The Epicenter is home to the Quakes, a minor league baseball team, and the Auto Club Speedway plays host to NASCAR racing.
